HRE Soundbite: ‘Leading with strong values’ in the crisis

In a webcast unveiling the new People+Work Connect initiative, which connects employers undergoing layoffs or furloughing workers with organizations in need of talent, Ellyn Shook, chief leadership and HR officer at Accenture, shared her view on the need for strong HR leadership through the coronavirus pandemic:

“This is not just an economic and health crisis; it’s a societal one, too. Our mission is simple: This is about getting the world back to work. That requires the mindset of being stewards of talent, instilling confidence in the future workforce because people want to work for companies that create value while leading with strong values. With this platform and collaboration, we will all share in the solution to get through this together.”

Shook worked with three other CHROs–Lisa Buckingham of Lincoln Financial Group, Pat Wadors of ServiceNow and Christy Pambianchi of Verizon–and a host of other business leaders to launch the initiative, which has a dozen founding participants and onboarded 250 new members in its first week.
