HR Tech 2021: The signs of continuing innovation in HR technology

Top HR Products reveal the growing importance of HR tech in workplaces today.

This week, Human Resource Executive® and the HR Technology Conference® announced the Top HR Products for 2021 (you can see the full list of the award winners here). The depth and breadth of the HR technology solutions that comprise this year’s slate of winners is a testament to the dedication, hard work and customer focus that these 13 solution providers demonstrated over the last year in circumstances that were particularly challenging.

Despite all the disruption the pandemic has caused just about every organization, we received about 110 nominations for the 2021 awards. This was comparable to pre-pandemic numbers, showing just how important and impactful HR technology continues to be. It also indicates that HR technology has become even more important to customer organizations that also have been navigating unprecedented challenges for almost two years.

We conducted dozens of (virtual) demonstrations of these solutions over the summer months, and I was consistently impressed by the innovations and fresh approaches to HR, talent and business problems that the HR tech solutions we reviewed were developed to address. From that lengthy review process, we had the extremely difficult task of selecting the final list of winners, and believe me, I think we could easily have had a list of 30 or 40, that is just how impressive so many of these solutions are.

A few other notes and observations about this year’s Top HR Products winners: I was glad to see solutions covering a wide range of HR functions and process areas. From talent acquisition to employee experience to core payroll, the list of winners is representative of the vast array of HR technology solutions and demonstrates how HR tech innovations can help customers at every step of the employee journey. Additionally, several of the winners have a focus on helping organizations make progress towards meeting their Diversity, Equity and Inclusion goals, which we know has been of primary importance to most HR leaders in 2021 and will remain so moving forward. Finally, it was great to see so many of the most experienced, mature solution providers in HR tech represented on the 2021 list, showing that, for even these large, stable organizations, a commitment to continuous innovation is a priority.

Congratulations to all the 2021 Top HR Products winners, and many thanks to all the HR technology solution providers who submitted their products this year. I would also like to invite HR Technology Conference attendees to do two things.

One, join us at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 28 in the Pitchfest Theater located in our Expo Hall for a short awards ceremony where you can see and acknowledge our 2021 winners. And two, make sure to mark time in the Expo Hall to visit these winning solution providers and see your own demonstration of these innovative solutions. I am sure you will walk away just as impressed as we were!
